The answer to that provocation is hardly simple, though: the classically trained performer, who earned her B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), hails from California, but is a wanderer at heart. Having split her time between both the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles throughout her career, Pjay has both fostered and shared her talents from coast to coast, country to country. As a singer-entertainer, she’s enthralled audiences in destinations like Morocco, France, Taiwan, Canada, and Italy. Her stage repertoire (as an actor and choreographer) includes Netflix ('From Scratch') Jimmy Kimmel ('Sketch Comedy') Theatreworks ('Caroline or Change' [Critics Circle Award for Best Musical]) and ('Crowns'), Center Theatre Group (‘The Christians;), and Willows Theatre ('Aida' and 'The Wiz'). And she’s blessed to say Hollywood has treated her well, too: as a seasoned television actor, Pjay’s credits include Peleton and numerous other corporate brands. When she’s not on set or stage, she’s recording original music. Her acclaimed 2017 EP Love Come Through is a collection of sultry earworms that walk the tightrope between soul, jazz, and R&B — a foray she’s continued mastering in more recent years with 2022’s neo-soul-indebted singles “Here with You” and “The Time Before.”
